Notice concerning Strengthening Management over Periodicals Issuing Event Record Works

Since some time, a number of periodicals have competed to publish event record works, creating a sudden increase of event record periodicals, often with duplicate content. Among those, a number of articles and materials are untrue, some are manufactured roughly, creating a very bad influence. Notice concerning Re-Examination and Approval of Publications Describing Main Central Leading Comrades

In recent times, some publishing houses, magazine publishers and newspaper publishers have published or issued a batch of books and articles describing the individual and household life situation of Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De, Deng Xiaoping, Chen Yun and other central leading comrades. Some of these books and articles are written acceptably, and have a certain educative function for readers. Even so, there are also a number of books and articles where grave problems that merit attention exist: some hanker after exposing “secret news”, “behind the scenes” and “anecdotes”, cajoling the public with claptrap, and having a low style; some adopt hearsay and rumour or even fabricate or imagine the leaders’ ways of thinking and discussions, and the relationships between leaders; some wilfully appraise leaders; some others open up some internal Party Centre situations and important discussions of leaders, etc., without authorization. This content is not accurate and not true, and there are even books and articles confounding right and wrong, who distort history, misrepresent and uglify the image of leaders, having the effect of harming the political leadership of the Party, and harming the larger picture of persisting in the Four Cardinal Principles and stability.
