Recently, a number of radio and television broadcasting organs broadcasted foreign radio and television programmes dubbed in local dialects, which violates the important task and mission of radio and television to popularize the use of Putonghua. According to the spirit of the “Radio and television Management Regulations” provision “Radio stations and television stations shall use standardized spoken and written language. Radio stations and television stations shall popularize the nationwide use of Putonghua”, in order to further strengthen foreign dubbed radio and television programme broadcast management work, SARFT notifies relevant matters as follows:
I, All levels’ radio and television management entities and radio and television broadcast organs must give high regard to foreign dubbed radio and television programme broadcast management work, keep the important task and mission borne by radio and television in popularizing the use of Putonghua firmly in mind, securely establish a political consciousness, a consciousness of the larger picture, and a consciousness of responsibility, firmly grasp the correct orientation, realistically do well radio and television foreign dubbed programme broadcast work.
II, All levels’ radio and television broadcasting organs without exception may not broadcast foreign programmes dubbed in local dialects. Currently broadcast foreign radio and television programmes dubbed in local dialects must stop immediately, and it must be appropriately dealt with.
III, All provincial, regional (municipal) radio and television bureaus (offices) must realistically implement their management responsibilities, immediately conduct a one-time complete examination and carding of the situation of broadcasting organs in their jurisdiction broadcasting foreign radio and television programmes dubbed in local dialects, according to the spirit of the above regulations, manage strictly, earnestly implement the important task and mission of radio and television in popularizing the use of Putonghua well, creating a desirable language environment for the healthy growing up of minors.
