Beijing Network Media Zunyi Declaration

On 30 August 2006, the Beijing network media gathered in Zunyi, Guizhou, and convened the “Long March Spirit and Network Dissemination” Forum, the meeting passed the “Beijing Network Media Zunyi Declaration”, which stresses that the spirit of the Long March encourages them, and resolve to let the magnificent Long March spirit shine forever. On 10 September, the CCP Guizhou Provincial Committee, the Guizhou Provincial People’s Government, and the Guizhou Provincial Military Region organized, and the CCP Guizhou Provincial Committee Propaganda Department, the CCP Guizhou Provincial Committee Party History Research Office, the Guizhou Province Military Region Political Department, the CCP Zunyi City Committee and the Zunyi City People’s Government co-organized the “Eternal Brilliance of the Zunyi Conference – Exhibition to Remember the 70th Anniversary of the Victorious Long March” which opened its doors in Beijing. The Beijing network media published the complete text of the “Beijing Network Media Zunyi Declaration”, in order to express congratulations and show determination.

Letter of Response on Running the Internet in a Civilized Manner

On 9 April, 14 Beijing websites, including Qianlong Net, etc., jointly issued a letter of proposal on running the Internet in a civilized manner to Internet circles, main Central news websites unanimously express strong agreement and Herculean support.

At present, our country has 700.000 Internet sites and more than 110 million online users. The Internet has become a basic tool for the information society, has become a mass medium with huge influence and the most potential, and has become collection and distribution centre for all sorts of information. The healthy development of the Internet concerns the stability and development of the State, concerns the construction of a Socialist spiritual civilization, and concerns the healthy growing up of millions of minors. The “Letter of Proposal on Running the Internet in a Civilized Manner” put forward by the 14 Beijing web sites conforms to the aspirations of the broad netizens, complies with the requirements of the times, and indicates that a healthy and upward content orientation is the mainstream of all our country’s websites, the broad website workers have the awareness, the capacity and the consciousness to resist all sorts of unhealthy network information, and vigorously throw themselves into the magnificent practice of building a Socialist spiritual civilization. Manifesto for the Foundation of the China Youth News Journalists’ Society

The War of Resistance can certainly be won, at the same time, the War of Resistance will cast away the corrupt elements of China, and brand new forces will gradually emerge in the process of the War of Resistance, this is our belief.

We are composed of journalists devoted to the news cause, who have a young spirit, we firmly believe that China, with its population of 450 million, where the ordinary circulation of the best-selling nationwide newspapers has not exceeded 200.000 per day, and where the circulation of important nationwide newspapers does not exceed a million per day, on average five hundred people can read one newspaper. Since the War of Resistance, following the loss of many regions to the enemy, even though the domestic masses’ demand for newspapers have become ever more urgent, newspaper circulation has not soared hitherto, domestic poverty and weakness on one hand points out the path for the infinite development of China’s news cause, and on the other hand indicates that the news cause in the War of Resistance still waits for special efforts.
